Table-side theatrics, bold flavors, tasty teas and fancy bubbles! We were lucky to be invited to try the newly launched high tea at Tamba. The staff were welcoming as always and we had the pleasure of meeting Jocelyn, Tamba’s new General Manager. He explained this concept came out of the need to have something to offer those guests who come in between lunch and dinner. Picking from the tea list was not easy but we decided on the masala chai and early grey. The high tea set arrived with a BANG with fog billowing out from the wooden box and across the table. Needless to say, every eye in the restaurant was watching us. You’ll want to get your cameras out for this one! On offer was a nice array of sweet and savory items. Corn bhajia and mini samosas were accompanied by traditional Indian sauces, one sweet, and the other spicy. The dholka cake was light and airy but packed a punch with some serious heat! Little chicken tikka pouches were lip smacking good as were the sev puri! An ode to a classic afternoon tea, there were scones with strawberry chutney and two types of cookies. The banana cake, a small version of their ‘sticky situation’ was as good as always and accompanied by a tangy buttercream. It was the perfect amount of items, we were full but not stuffed. We also liked how there were more savory items then sweet, a great balance and a snapshot of what Tamba has to offer!
