Sandersons Al Seef Walk

So I had to see for myself what all the fuss was about. So we sallied forth for weekday lunch ... and I was pleasantly surprised. The decor makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the tropics: all rattan and white and green - very fresh. I found wait staff who were genuinely friendly and who I think had been listening to feedback and acting on it. Warning: you might not like the food. The flavour combinations are different from anything we have anywhere in Abu Dhabi, and more consistent with swanky lunch food in NZ or Australia. For me, it was mostly delicious. I had the pulled lamb cabbage wrap - I think around AED50 - and Sal had beetroot tagliatelle with walnuts and feta. We enjoyed both, though the pasta was a heavier dish than she was expecting. The pavlova to finish restored my faith in culinary-kind! It had just enough cream to cut the meringue and was filled with all-spiced berries and passionfruit. Lick the plate good! There were other more ‘mainstream’ items on the menu and I’m looking forward to reading reviews on these. Will I go back? Yes! They actually had me at AED9 for local water and prices that make other places look greedy. There’s a kids play area outside but no kids menu and this is definitely not food for kids, so that may need to be considered. Service was excellent except for one unusual moment. Overall, I felt a strong sense of ‘its about time!’, swiftly followed by ‘AD needs this!’ #wearesandersons
