Rosewood Hotel, Al Maryah.
I was privileged enough to be invited to dine, pre-opening, at Roberto's. Yes, there's a Roberto's in Dubai but this one is better: it's been described as Roberto's Dubai - but in the future. And it did not disappoint: the food was, quite simply, the best I've ever had.
We began with freshly made bread. The focaccia was absolutely incredible and better than anything I'd had - even in Italy. Paired with three dips, I had to stop myself from finishing the whole box. I was concerned that I'd ruin my appetite for what was to come - and I was determined to fit in dessert.
My linguine was sublime: I've honestly never eaten such high quality prawns, so perfectly cooked. It was light, tasty and redolent of the best garlic and the best quality tomatoes.
The best part of course was the dessert. Executive Chef, Francesco Guarratino, explained each dish and it seemed as if each dessert was more glorious than the one before. My favourite, and the one that I found myself thinking of long after leaving Roberto's was the panna cotta. It was heavenly: the creamiest panna cotta ever and with such a twist! Topped with tiny mint jellies, tuille and finished with raspberry sauce, it was layer upon layer of taste. The pistachio gelato was also sublime.
Service was outstanding - you forget, don't you, how perfect service can be?!
I've already had 'the discussion' with my husband about returning. It will be the birthday treat, the anniversary indulgence, the special occasion hurrah.
I can't wait for an excuse ... do I need an excuse?
Thank you Roberto's for having me. See you soon!
