The Emirates Palace poolside brunch is a new concept. Located on the Beach Club at Las Brisas, it has a nice environment for those looking for something different.
It's a casual affair, although some didn't get the dress code. (I'll never understand uber high heels and a prom dress at a poolside brunch, sorry). The menfolk were obviously pleased to be wearing cargo shorts and sandals.
The crowd was smallish and sublime; the kids were very well entertained by a large kid's activity & buffet area.
Think of this as an upscale BBQ. While the food selection was small in comparison to most Brunches, it was full of special treats. The beef tartar and chilled seafood selection was excellent. Carved Roast Leg of Veal (with roasted veg and Yorkshire puddings). Made to order pastas. Made to order Paella. Made to order grilled Foie Gras. Little baskets of yummy dim sum. Decent selection of salads, including an arabic mezze selection. Small cheese area with focus on UK cheeses was popular. Large grilled meat and seafood area, plus plenty of Indian choices. The made to order naan was a personal favorite. Table-side shucked oysters were fun with the ladies in their red dresses, high heels and "fascinators".
It was strange eating a BBQ whilst overlooking the bathing denizens of the Palace; it wasn't exactly a beauty show. Not sure how they felt about it, but it made for a few chuckles. You can avoid this by sitting more garden side. Service was confused, until we settled on a waiter whom took a shine to us. One disappointment was the middle package; the package with drinks (AED350+++) includes only house wines, beers, mojitos, sangria, and Bloody Marys. A request for a G&T was met with utter fear and confusion. At this price point, it's suggested to expand the offerings.
The band was good and played a nice selection of music.
Overall, it was a chill vibe and enjoyable afternoon. Not for a party atmosphere, but a delightful afternoon with friends. I recommend giving it a try and enjoying a nice experience "at the Palace." Its not often you can say that!!
