As the happy winner of the 'Valentine's Day Exclusive Waterside Dining Cabana' at the Park Grill, Park Hyatt on Saadiyat, hubby and I finally got to enjoy the culinary experience on Saturday after postponing due to Wednesday’s unsettled weather.
Hats off to the staff at the Park Hyatt who went all out to ensure we had a wonderful evening. Our host for the night, Moses kept our glasses continually topped up with our favourite French bubbly and took great care to explain the menu to us - even bringing the chef out of the kitchen during the meal to explain some of the more complex dishes to us. The F&B manager also stopped by to introduce himself and check we were happy.
After a welcome cocktail we were given an amuse bouche of Oysters followed by our first course of 5. The mud crab was full of flavour and had a lovely light ‘freshness’ overall, the lamb pasta dish (my favourite) was truly delicious and offered up some complex flavours without being overly heavy. The sea bass was well cooked but a little ‘meh’ despite the welcome addition of chorizo whilst the Spanish rib eye tasted heavenly if slightly on the rich side thanks to the addition of both truffle and foie gras (to be fair we were both struggling a little for room at this point!). Pudding was decent and very prettily presented but not as sweet as I would have liked.
Overall, the setting, service, presentation and food quality were excellent and we would definitely go back. The poolside setting is just beautiful and the evening had a really lovely ambience with lots of other diners enjoying the great food/atmosphere outdoors. It would make a really lovely celebration venue or just somewhere for a decent relaxed meal.
Park Hyatt seem to have been upping their culinary game lately judging by the recent brunch reviews and it’s clearly paying off.
(n.b excuse the photo quality - it was pretty dark outside!)
A big thank you once again to the Best Bites Team - you guys rock!
