So 3 of us ladies decided to venture out for a well deserved ladies luncheon and chose the Market Kitchen at Le Royal Meridien for our outing 👠👠👠
The first impression was the decor and this was absolutely impressive. Cozy, woody and black tones with warm lighting made us feel immediately welcome. Service was attentive enough although we did feel it took quite a while for our order to make it to the table - not really a big deal for us as we were too busy chatting but then again there was no one else in the restaurant at the time so really no reason for a delay.
One of us opted for the Lunch n Box - a salad, side, entree and dessert promotion of not overly huge portions but really good value for just AED 95. My friend chose the avocado, blue cheese, Apple and pecan salad for the starter which she enjoyed. The main was the Meager fish with a side of mushrooms. The fish was scrumptious and a complete hit at the table. We just wish it had been a larger portion.
Our other mains were the tender, milk-fed veal chop in a tangy, spicy sauce with crispy potato slices and bok choy on the side. We also ordered the parmesan crusted chicken - a generous slab of chicken which was sadly underwhelming although the crust was cheesy, crispy, flavour packed deliciousness.
Of course we couldn't stop without dessert and this is where my companions admitted defeat and surrendered their forks due to full tummies. Needless to say I did not give up so easily and soldiered on until all our desserts had been polished off. The staff were kind enough to give us a complimentary cake for the birthday we were celebrating and this was by far the highlight of our meal. Warm, gooey chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream - the ultimate comfort dessert and so well done! The outer cake was surprisingly crisp and firm and the insides flowed in a river of chocolatey goodness when pierced. Our other desserts included the hazelnut ice cream bombe (which although a great dessert could not hold a candle to the lava cake) and the salted caramel ice cream with peanuts and popcorn (a decadent dessert that evoked fond movie theatre memories for me 😊).
All in all, some hits and some misses but overall we walked away satisfied. They take the Entertainer too so that was an added plus.
