Last week we were invited to enjoy Friday Brunch at Le Meridien (Al Zahiyah area). We received a friendly welcome and were shown to our table quickly. This brunch has a laid-back relaxed atmosphere, with a mix of families and small groups. There is a range of drinks packages as you'd expect and house beverages, fizz, and cocktails (mojito/ margarita) were good quality, and kept topped up by the attentive staff.
As well as brunch favourites such as amazing fresh seafood (just look at the photo!) sushi, and salads, there were 3 live cooking stations. We enjoyed deliciously tender steak from the grill, tempting curries and kebabs with freshly cooked naan, and what my kids told me was 'their favourite pizza in Abu Dhabi' 😊 The pizza dough is slowly proved for 4 days to ensure it is full of flavour, and the crisp base along with a soft centre and loaded toppings meant it felt amazing to eat.
After we'd tried the aromatic lamb mansaf and chicken freekeh, we moved onto pudding, and for once the little tiny desserts tasted just as good as they looked. The Um Ali with a coconut twist was my absolute pudding heroine and utterly delicious 😁 However, the stars of the dessert show for me were undoubtedly some of the best macarons I have eaten in Abu Dhabi, and other diners must have thought so too because those babies VANISHED! Crisp on the outside, with a melt in the mouth centre and soft, unctuous fillings, we couldn't decide if the lemon curd or salted caramel was our favourite 😅
We were far too full to try the tempting gooey cheeses, so we took the kids outside where we had a lovely couple of hours in the pool and on the beach before heading for home.
This is a brunch which is constantly looking for new ways to excite their guests. Executive Chef Ramon Turmo tells me that brunch goers have a few treats in store once the weather cools down, including an outdoor live paella station, and a bang on-trend outdoor smokery station 😊
They haven't forgotten about the small people, but want them to eat well too, so in addition to the yummy fresh pizza they will also make pasta to order, and cook them some meat on the grill, and there's also a bouncy castle outside for them to burn off some steam before heading to the pool 😊
This could definitely be one for you to try this week if you're looking for a Friday brunch with pool and beach access, nice and relaxed, with consistently good food and drink.
Prices per person include pool AND beach access, and are currently buy 1 get 1 free, making it really good value 😊
