My first review for Best Bites. Layali Baghdad is a relatively new Iraqi restaurant in Khalifa City. The building is purpose built and has a lovely fresh and modern yet homey kind of feel to it. We went there for the masqoof (bbq fish) and it was delicious. Delicate fresh water fish bbq’d by the open fire pit. So tender, and perfectly cooked. There was only two of us and the smallest fish was 2.5 kg so we didn’t order any starters. It comes with a very nice lentil soup and delicious bread and we ordered the beetroot salad, which was also fresh and delicious. Finished off with a two course tea - very strong brewed black tea followed by tea made from dried crushed limes - a new flavour that I really enjoyed. Great food, great value (we took the extra fish home and made yummy fish cakes the next day), and delightful staff. Well worth a try. Still salivating about that fish.
