Happy New Year everyone!
So because Dad couldn't be bothered to make lunch, we went across to Mazyad Mall and got lunch there. We did La Brioche, I'd been to the one in Khalifa A and had a good meal there. This time I had the crispy calamari, Dad had the club sandwich (we guilt tripped him into having the side salad instead of fries) and Michelle had the lentil soup with the vegetable crust on the side. (Probably not the proper name but that's all I can recall it being).
The calamari was nice, not fresh but the batter was nicely cooked and not in excess. Dad liked the club sandwich and Michelle liked her soup and tomato/vegetable thing as it wasn't too bland and the peppers were nice and soft. However, the crust was quite difficult to cut (dad made many jokes about them shattering his glasses whenever a bit would fly across the plate towards him) and the sauce was a bit overly bland. Dad also commented there could have been more variety in the salad as well.
Michelle and I also got into the spirit and ordered festive drinks- I had the hot apple cinnamon cider (non alcoholic of course!) and Michelle had the gingerbread latte. The cider was nice, the big stick of cinnamon was aesthetically nice as well as smelling nice, and I was left wanting more of it. The gingerbread latte left a lot to be desired as it didn't really taste like gingerbread, and it didn't look anything like the pictures on the table did which came with little chunks of gingerbread on it.
The service was okay, the waiter was friendly but when they asked if Michelle wanted cream on her latte twice we couldn't decide if it was the waiter not writing it down or if it was a lack of communication between the waiter and the barista. We never got asked how our meal was and if we wanted any extra sauces or anything, and we were never asked if we wanted glasses for the bottle of water on the table (which led to us debating if it was just there for decoration or not).
All in all, it was a nice experience but I think they could have done better given the fact that it wasn't particularly busy. Would go again though in the future for coffee, and we were admiring the cakes and pastries there too. I also liked the fact that they did a page exclusively for advice on allergies.
