Ambience- 3.5 Service- 4 Food -5
This isn't the first time we have visited Konkans its one of our favourite restaurants and it deserves a review. Coming from coastal India Konkans (meaning coastal) serve food closest to home its our go to place when we miss home. Their specialities are coastal seafood cuisine. They also serve coastal meats, Indian food and Indian Chinese food. But their best on the menu is the coastal cuisine and must be tried. Coming to the ambience it isn't fancy but very neat and decent interiors with colours of red and black decor. Service was average but if it is your first time they do make recommendations. Always ask your server for spice levels of every dish you order and ask to adjust accordingly as some dishes are spicier than others. Now for the best part the food. We were a party of two who craved some seafood for easter . Pappadums and chutney were served complimentary. We had the Solkadi drink a spiced drink made with coconut milk, kokum, salt, chilly and ginger paste I cant praise this drink enough its a super tasty Indian version of the laban don't be fooled by the rosy pink colour the Solkadi cannot be missed. I love squid/calamari and always have the squid kolivada one just wasn't enough for our hungry appetites so we ordered two it was crisp to perfection and lightly spiced in coastal spices if you love squid/calamari fry try this version you wont regret it. We had the tandoori pomfret fish which was spiced right and grilled to perfection a little tip ask for a little more of the salad served on the side it tastes great with it. For main course we had the deshelled Crab Malwani curry a spicy coastal gravy mixed with crab meat which went well with Neer dosa which are napkin thin rice pancakes which are lovely with all coastal curries. We walked out happy and went to a nearby store Istanbul trading to have some Turkish delights for dessert. Attached is the bill for details on price. Try konkans and discover a hidden gem.
