Koi Friday Evening Brunch

Saadiyat Island.

Value for money:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

On Friday we gave the brunch at koi, Saadiyat a whirl. Due to Ramadan the day brunch has moved to the evening, and although the music was low key and sometimes the sound of clinking plates is off putting it really was splendid. We arrived and were promptly shown to a wonderful booth style corner table, our server was friendly and informative as he gave us our options for the evening. We chose the house package, we browsed the menu and were informed we would be served everything listed, if we required more of any dish just ask! As we are quite fussy eaters we opted out of the sushi and sashimi (our fussiness has declined since our visit to Koi) We experimented with the calamari salad, which was just amazing, the taste was just a whirl wind of sweet, light spices and crunchy salad with the delicious taste of calamari. Another highlight was the tempura chicken and rock shrimp. Just WOW, the chicken was again with alittle spice but not over powering and the batter was deliciously crunchy, the same is said for the rock shrimp. They were just sensational, meaty, chunky and a delicious batter. The wagyu tataki, was one of the most flavorsome dishes I have ever had... anywhere, with woody mushrooms, a warming sauce and tender beef, it just melted in the mouth. But that said every dish we tried was like a culinary journey that really made you think wow whether it was something you would try again or not. My main dish to note was the beef short rib and mash potato... This dish is always my go to anywhere and I am often disappointed, this time I was not, again cooked to perfection tender, and tasty. The mash was 'real' mash and again creamy, buttery and smooth, prepared cooked perfectly. We asked for a second serving of this dish and promptly our server obliged. We could have ordered thirds or even fourths it was so good. My husbands top dish was the black cod, tasty, well presented and a serving that would have easily accommodated 4. For me this was alittle too much soy sauce and not really to my taste but he loved it. Desserts again like every dish we were served were fab, a nice taste of their offerings without being too indulgent. The sticky toffee pudding was a classic dish without being spoilt by adding on too many alternative and extra fancies. It was warm, moist and sticky!! Just perfect. The evening was wonderful, the restaurant was busy but service was great, the atmosphere was calm and enjoyable. All in all a fab night. Cost - 500 AED for two people with 🍾 including tax (using an entertainer voucher)
