A great place for Bombay-style sandwiches.
Back home in Bombay, the Haji Ali Juice Centre is iconic. The Abu Dhabi branch certainly does justice to the original. The menu is simple and small. There's sandwiches, rolls and pizzas in savouries; and juices, milkshakes, faloodas and fruit creams complete the menu.
The sandwiches and rolls are brilliant, all made the typical Bombay way. I loved the veg grill sandwich, served hot and perfectly toasted. The boiled potatoes and green chutney used in this sandwich set it apart from regular veg sandwiches. I usually ask for more green chutney on the side, instead of ketchup as a dip. Headsup - anything on the savoury menu with the words 'bhajji' and 'shezwan' will be fairly spicy.
The milkshakes and fruit creams are delish. The fruit creams are basic custard with your choice of fruits or dry fruits. They're generous with the fruits and add-ons. If you like chiku (sapodilla), the chiku milkshake is amazing!
Definitely a #salarysaver with most of the menu items costing less that 20 dirhams an item.
P.S. Avoid the pizzas, unless you're a 30-something Mumbaikar on a nostalgia trip.
