I'm really pleased that I picked Cafe Milano for my birthday dinner as you will see from my review! You are greeted with complimentary bread sticks, bread and olives. We received a taster arancini each, which is one of my favourites so went down a treat. They very kindly brought my dad a replacement quinoa taster as they heard him say he doesn't like cheese, which was thoughtful as he normally misses out as nibbles are generally cheesy. For starters, I ordered Eggplant Timbale with Mozzarella that was creamy and just melted in your mouth (I’d already devoured and spilled half of it before I remembered to take a picture!). My parents both thoroughly enjoyed the Roasted Scallops, which had caramelised edges of perfection. We desperately want to attempt to recreate both at home! For mains we ordered the Tagliatelle with Porcini Mushrooms that is prepared in a cheese wheel at your table, and then truffles are grated over the top. We mentioned we were sharing and they happily served it into two bowls for us. Although nice, this was our least favourite dish of the evening. My dad said the Paccheri Pasta with Shrimps was delicious. The star of the show for all of us was the Confit Duck Leg in Cherry Sauce, which was gorgeous, and my parents said they would go back just for that! Considering they both normally tell me that they don't like duck, I'm glad that when I told them they just hadn't had nice duck that Café Milano proved me right, hehe! For desserts, my dad liked the tiramisu, and the raspberry sorbet was refreshing. And I had a chocolate mousse dessert with a raspberry compot, topped with a candle and a happy birthday :) it was full of flavour but quite rich. After dessert they presented us with a platter of small desserts, which I have no idea how we managed to fit in after all the food we ate!For drinks, we had peach bellini's - lovely and fresh tasting. The service was impeccable and I felt very special for my birthday, can't thank Lara and the rest of the staff enough. The charming ambiance of the restaurant just added to how special the evening felt. We were seated on the terrace which is still inside, but with large open windows and has a view of the water and the city.Overall, it is on the expensive side but I would definitely recommend Cafe Milano for an occasion or celebration as you will surely have a memorable evening.
