Appaloosa, Marriott Al Forsan
B.Y.O.F. is the new brunch on the block! It’s casual and fun with a traveling gin cart and psssst…. there’s pork! Yep! That’s right, a giant platter of succulent pork is waiting for you!
The food menu features four different generous sharing platters and dessert, all served to your table throughout the four-hour brunch. To start, we decided to go for a gin and tonic from the super cool traveling gin cart. You can choose from a selection of gins with mix-ins like fresh berries, cucumber, juniper, mint, star anise, cloves, and cinnamon. The first food platter to arrive featured two salads, one with chicken the other with poached shrimp, a mix of flatbreads with dips and a prawn cocktail served in a ‘throwback style’ martini glass. Next up was classic pub grub with bbq wings, fried brie cheese (oh my yummm!), mushrooms on toast and salmon churros. The brie was the table favorite and close behind was the mushrooms on toast. A generous char on the crusty bread complimented the cheesy melt in your mouth mushrooms. The next platter featured battered cod and chips, lamb pie and butter chicken. The fish was nice and crispy with the chips acting like little scoops for the delicious butter chicken! The pie of the day was lamb cooked in a comforting rich, dark gravy with the flaky pie topping,
We had been strategically saving room for the pork platter we knew was on the horizon, but had no idea what was about to land on our table! Out came a MASSIVE pork knuckle, with crispy skin and juicy tender meat. I swear it was the size of my head! 😂 Accompanying the Bavarian-style pork knuckle was fall-off-the-bone pork ribs with apple slaw and the classic British bangers and mash! Safe to say, we were stuffed after tackling this meat platter. Needing a breather before dessert, we checked out the pool table and took a swing at the mini beer pong table. The live music featured a two-person band who played current bops and some classic oldies too.
Dessert was a velvety cheesecake with tart berry compote and Austrian pancake fingers with a fruity dip.
Brunch is priced at AED 249 or AED 222 if you have 10 or more people. Priced in this sweet spot, you are definitely getting your money's worth here.
Rumor has it there will be plenty of pork featured during their upcoming Oktoberfest event! Watch this space!
