Having been to this restaurant a few times before, and always enjoyed it, the husband and I decided on it for a rare date night last week. An additional draw was the A&E wine voucher in the Entertainer...
The restaurant was empty when we arrived and so we got to choose our table, and there were lots of staff to assist. Our server was Sundeep and could not have been more attentive - he brought out breadsticks, red pepper tapenade, parmesan and enormous juicy green olives. They were so good I asked where they sourced them (hoping it was Waitrose 😜) but no, they came from Italy apparently. But that prompted him to keep bringing me more and more of them!
We ordered 4 starters to share, followed by what was described as a 'small plate' each, leaving room for dessert, just in case. The starters were all fantastic, often one in the selection lets you down but the chilli king prawns, mozzarella and tomato salad, beef carpaccio and 18 month matured Parma ham were all delicious.
Then the small plates arrived, and true, my husband's lasagne was small but perfectly formed, but my asparagus and Parmesan risotto was vast! And lovely. Perfectly cooked rice, nice and hot and just creamy enough without being sickly.
The manager Tu, was very friendly and visited our table a number of times for a chat, and all in all the service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. What has always been a good restaurant in my head has turned out to be one of my new favourites. Would definitely recommend this as a must visit Italian restaurant (especially since they have a pork licence...)
